ImageLimerick’s Summer Festival of Literature, opens this Friday 18 in The Pavilion, North Campus of UL. Vice chairman of Limerick City of Culture 2014, Tim O’Connor, has launch honours at 5pm on campus.

O’Connor, who chaired the successful Gathering nationally last year, has a keen interest in the Limerick verse. He got involved in getting Limerick Writers’ Centre and Campus Life Services of UL to promote the form through an international Limericks competition last year.

John Liddy’s ninth collection of poetry is launched by Dr John Logan at 6pm. At 7.30pm, Limerick Person of the Year, author Donal Ryan, will give a reading from his novels and the evening will round off at Treaty Comedy Club gig, 9pm. Friday 18 events are free and there’s welcome for all.
