STEP-Up: Dance Project revives at Irish World Academy of Music and Dance (IWA), announcing a partnership with Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre company. The idea is developing the skills of and a platform for contemporary dance graduates from the UL based academy, with 2014 seeing the highest number of applications to date.
The summer project began on July 7 and continues into August 12 with this year’s selected dancers being Ailish Maher (Ire), Aifric Ní Chaoimh (Ire), Marion Cronin (Ire), Magda Herzak (Ire/ Pol), Juan Urbina (Ven/ Ire), Adam Faillul and Murni Omar (Mal/ Ire).
In mid August we see a dance performance ensuing from five weeks work in residence on campus, with shows at Dance Limerick, Daghdha Space, then Firkin Crane, Cork and DanceHouse in Dublin from August 8 to 11.
Choreographer Michael Keegan-Dolan has oversight of Step Up: Dance this year, he’s founder and artistic director of Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre and associated with Sadler’s Well’s Theatre.
