LIMERICK City and County Council have nominated Killeely,Abbeyfeale,Radharc na Cille in Kilmallock and the C-Well Project in Kings Ireland,Limerick City to represent Limerick in the 2014 IPB Pride of Place Competition.
The annual all-island competition recognizes and celebrates the vital contributions that communities make to society.
Limerick was very successful at last years competition,when Castleview Park,Newcastle West,Limerick Youth Service and Moyross won 1st and 2nd in their respective categories.
This year,Kileely entered into the Urban Neighbourhood Category,Radharc na Cille Residents Association is participating in the Housing Estates Category,C-Well is competing under the banner of Community Health Initiative-physical activity,while Feale life,Abbeyfeale entered under the Eco Community Initiative.
The competition in 2014 is the first year that Limerick City and County Council as a new local authority had the opportunity to nominate groups to participate in this competition.The Cathaoirleach of Limerick City and County Council,Cllr.Kevin Sheehan said that this will “further strengthen Limerick’s strong record of success” in the competition.
He added that “Limerick is fortunate to have a wealth of community-focused groups and projects that provide services in keeping with the aims and objectives of Pride of Place”
Judging will take place on July 7 and July 28.
