A NEW scene, a new sound beckon with old favourites in jazz, bepop, swing, rumba and pop rearranged for afternoon delight. The guilty party in this is Limerick band, The AfterParty and their new weekend venue is Peter Clohessy’s Bar at Bishop’s Quay.
Making the most of summer and the terrace looking on to our riverside boulevard, this musical quartet will strike a chord with feel-good music each Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.
The idea is we come along, have a brunch or drinks and enjoy the outdoor/ indoor space while the band plays on.
Percussionist and drummer Ray Murphy also promises that The AfterParty will be suited and booted in style. Vocalist Kala Chung, studying in Cork School of Music, is a talented front to musicians Paddy Shanahan on guitar, Colin Bartley on double bass and Murphy.
Rehearsal space is often his garden in Parteen and with no neighbour complaining yet, Arts page has a hunch that their gig could be the one to sweeten Sundays from here on in.
Weekly Jazz Brunch at Clohessy’s from 1pm to circa 4pm, with a mind to the occasional performance on the street, sunshine permitting.
