Body recovered from water of man who was swept away

THE search for a man who went missing near the riverbank at the University of Limerick has ended after divers recovered his body this Wednesday morning.

A major multi-agency operationa began at 6pm last Tuesday evening when the man was seen getting into difficulty after he entered the water with a horse.

The area known as “Sandy”, was the main focus of the operation for three units of Limerick City Fire and Rescue, units from Limerick Marine Search and Rescue as well as gardaí.

Shannon based Rescue 115 Coastguard helicopter was also deployed to the scene after it was reported that the man fell and was swept away with the current.

Searches continued and at 9:10 this morning Kilaloe search and rescue divers took his body from the water near the old swimming pool in UL..
