Creative Expo 2

SET aside time on Saturday June 7 to enjoy Creative Expo 2 on city centre streets from 1pm to 3pm. Organised by Limerick Arts Collective Forum (LACF) we are promised, according to John O’Regan, the “vibrant colourful and imaginative aspects of artistic life in Limerick.

“Musicians, singers, dancers, comedians, poets, actors, stilt-walkers and more will entertain Limerick shoppers on O’Connell Street, Patrick Street, Cruises Street, William Street, Thomas Street and Catherine Street”.

Round two takes place from 4pm to 7pm with a seriews of bands playing at Cobblestone Joe’s in Ellen Street.

The forum is an advocacy group for local professional and community arts, committed “to the betterment of the artistic community”.

Ireland at Venice

THRILLINGLY for Limerick, the Ireland team at the 56th International Art Exhibition in Venice for 2015 (Ireland at Venice) is Limerick based and high profile in international exhibition experience.

The Commissioner for 2015 is LSAD chief/ City of Culture artistic director Mike Fitzpatrick who has rich experience at the Biennale since his time heading up Limerick City Gallery of Art.

Fitzpatrick will work with curator Woodrow Kernohan (Eva International director (2012-2014) to present the work of LSAD trained artist, Sean Lynch.

Lynch, who operates out of Askeaton, Limerick and Germany, had his work described by Arts Council director Orlaith McBride as “particularly intriguing and unique, finding wonderful pathways for the public into hidden or forgotten histories”.

Arts Council, backer of Ireland at Venice, will support a subsequent Irish tour for the 56th International Art Exhibition in 2016.

 

 

Clowning  and chatting at Spiegeltent

SIMON Thompson’s show ‘Clown Noir, This is Me’ will be a serious draw at Spiegeltent, Arthur’s Quay, Monday June 2 at 4pm (o15s).

Salon du Chat will follow same day at 7.30pm, “a shrine to the art of good conversation”. Co-organiser Róisín Buckley suggests a welcoming glass of bubbly as you browse the ‘conversation menu’ and “the friendly chat hostess will seat you at a table with a mix of friends and strangers and help you to spark up the conversation”.
