LIMERICK Sings Festival takes place again this June holiday weekend, its primary platform being a choral music concert at St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday May 31, 8pm.

It opens with the Lassus Scholars, pictured, from Dublin and their performance of sacred music, and Nóirín Ní Riain, known for her interpretations of chant and Irish music.

This Limerick Sings concert will showcase jazz ensembles of young singers from the University of Minnesota and the award winning Clermont Chorale from Dundalk. The cathedral evening on Saturday 31 will close with Unity Gospel Choir Limerick under the direction of founder Gretta McCormack O’Shea.

“It will be part of a wider programme of events provided by the Association of Irish Choirs Conference with whom the Festival is collaborating this year,” says Linda Stevens of Campus Services at UL, base for festival activity. “Limerick Sings sees up to 300 choristers from Ireland and the US descending on the city for a week end of workshops, expert talks, concerts and choral delight”.
