THE third concert in the Limerick Pipe Organ Festival (LPOF) series will take place in St. Mary’s Church, Athlunkard Street, at 7pm on Wednesday, May 14.

This free event features Daniel Battle and Michael O’Brien on the organ; Ardscoil Mhuire School Choir under Cecilia Madden; flautist Derek Mulcahy and soloists Sean O’Shea and Andrea Mc Mahon.

Canon Donough O’Malley describes the concert as a para-liturgy, meaning that there will be an opening and closing prayer, and some congregational singing.

“It’s part of our parish contribution towards the Limerick City of Culture, and hopefully there will be good attendance,” he added.

The fourth concert in the LPOF series is the special anniversary concert which will take place in St. John’s cathedral on Wednesday, May 21, at 8pm which will feature internationally renowned organist David Briggs.
