The chips will be down in Limerick over the June bank holiday when the inaugural World Chip Championships will be held as part of the city’s ‘Culture & Chips’ food carnival from May 29 to June 2.
On the afternoon of Saturday May 31, a host of chefs will cook up a storm in the Spiegeltent, the venue for the carnival events, to take home the title of World Chip Champion 2014.
From pulled pork fries to Poutine, baked mozzarella sticks to kale chips, they’ll all be in the competition line-up. Judges include Masterchef’s Nick Munier, Dan Mullane of The Mustard Seed, Lorraine “italianfoodie” Fanneran and well known Limerick chip connoisseur Fergal Deegan, with MC Myles Breen bound to get in on the tasting action.
Culture & Chips is a quirky food carnival taking place over the June bank holiday weekend in Limerick City Centre in association with Limerick City of Culture 2014.
