LOCAL councillors have welcomed Limerick City and County Council’s decision to begin the formal process of taking over several housing estates.
Fianna Fail councillor James Collins welcomed the news that the County Council are to proceed with the formal takeover of Ard Aulinn in Mungret.
Cllr Collins requested council planners to ensure the developer fulfils his responsibilities at Ard Aulinn until the formal taking in charge process is complete. He also lodged a formal request for the environment horticulture section to cut the grass as soon as possible.
“This is great news for the people of Ard Aulinn. Residents can now look forward to receiving a full service from the council rather than being left in an administrative limbo,” said Cllr Collins.
Meanwhile City West councillor Joe Leddin (Labour) hailed the local authorities’ decision to take in charge Kilteragh, Inis Mor and Inis Lua, Ard Aulinn and Courtfields as a welcome relief to all those living in these estates.
“This announcement is a relief to all those living in the estates especially those homeowners in parts of Kilteragh who only recently fought a battle to retain ownership of their driveways,” he said.
