CHEF and young mother of two Sarah Lee Kiely has cooked up a winning recipe for her local election campaign in Limerick City East.
Fine Gael hopeful Sarah Lee works part-time as a chef in a special care unit with the child and family services in Mulgrave Street. The Janesboro woman, a past pupil of the Presentation Secondary School on Sexton Street, told the Limerick Post that her interest in politics came from her former teacher, Mary Jackman and local councillor, Ger Fahy.
As a mother of two, the 35-year-old believes she has the energy and enthusiasm to represent her ward on the new joint local authority after the May 23 elections. Her priorities include safer public amenities and the allocation of social housing and she also has a special interest in the needs of families and older people regarding welfare issues and anti-social behaviour.
“My husband Damien and I know what it is to work really hard but I also know what it’s like to struggle. Lots of old-school politicians are out of touch with the issues that affect families and I believe I can make a difference,” said Sarah Lee.
“People in core areas such as Prospect, Rathbane, Garryowen and Kennedy Park do not have an equal footing and they need representation. I would urge people in Limerick City East to vote on May 23 and have their voices heard,” she added.
