Dr Maria Hinfelaar is to be reappointed as LIT president for a period of seven years.
The reappointment was confirmed this Wednesday by Niall Greene following its approval by the Governing Body at a meeting at LIT. The appointment followed an open selection process and will take effect when Dr Hinfelaar’s current term concludes in August.
Dr Hinfellar joined LIT as President in 2004 and during her time at the helm of the institute she has overseen a major period of expansion and innovation.
Confirming the appointment, Mr Greene said, “Dr Hinfelaar has led LIT through significant growth and development in her first term as President, including the Campus 2030 Masterplan, which is a far-reaching and innovative blueprint for the strengthening of LIT as one Ireland’s leading Institutes of Technology.
“As Chairman of the Governing body I look forward to working with her and her management team over the coming years in advancing the development of LIT as an institute of relevance and quality that makes a vital contribution to the economic and social development of the Mid-West region.”
