LIMERICK Institute of technology president Dr Maria Hineflaar has said that the thoughts and prayers of everyone associated with LIT are with the family of Steven Kavanagh following his death.

“We are all deeply saddened by his tragic passing. In his role as the LIT Students Union Vice President Steven left an indelible mark on this institute and will be remembered with great fondness.

“LIT had actively supported the Garda-led search operation for Steven and we wish to thank all who gave their time so generously since March 6th last when Steven was reported missing.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends on their tragic loss.

LIT is providing support to students and staff at this difficult time and has asked students to be aware of the 24 hour emotional support available from the Samaritans.
