Limerick will host one of the most spectacular performing art performances ever staged in Ireland tomorrow night when internationally acclaimed show Fuerza Bruta will be staged in an eight-acre industrial unit, renamed The Culture Factory.
Fuerza Bruta will be performed over 12 shows until March 22, with 1,000 people per performance crowding into the newly transformed venue for the massive acrobatic spectacular.
A dress rehearsal will take place this Wednesday night, with the show opening to the public at 6.30pm on Thursday. The 9pm performance for Friday is already sold out and tickets are selling well for the weekend and shows next week.
Located at Plassy Technological Park, next to the University of Limerick, The Culture Factory was used by Wang, Dell, and other multinationals. The venue has lain idle for seven years after Dell moved to the Raheen Industrial Park.
Limerick City of Culture organisers said that the facility will now give Limerick a venue that can compare with Dublin’s O2.
Fuerza Bruta is described as a mind-blowing experience which leaves its standing audience dazzled by its physical exertions and technical skill.
The 70-minute show is packed with stunts in a nightclub party setting with one scene featuring members of the cast swimming in a pool ten metres above the audience.
Feurza Bruta manager Mariana Mele said the Culture Factory venue was perfect as it gave them plenty of space to erect props.
There will be pre and post-event entertainment with Limerick band Leading Armies and DJ Paul Webb as well as multimedia art installations created by students from LSAD, LIT and UL.
Doors open an hour before each show. Further details on www.limerickcityofculture.ie
