A PROPOSAL to rename the Shannon Bridge as the John Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge was passed at City Hall this week but the decision has been strongly criticised by councillors who voted against it.
Cllr Pat Kennedy’s motion which was passed at a meeting of the Limerick City Council protocol committee this Tuesday by a very narrow 7-6 vote margin has now erupted into a major row between city councillors.
Cllr Jim Long (FG) who voted against the motion, commented, “I am against this decision. I represent the people of Limerick and there has been an overwhelmingly negative view on this.”
