BOTH sides in a dispute over pensions at aviation maintenance firm Shannon Aerospace have agreed to attend talks at the Labour Relations Commission next week.
Industrial action was looming as SIPTU members, which make up two-thirds of the 500 people employed at the company, had voted overwhelmingly to take industrial action from March 4.
The dispute relates to the company’s decision to shut down the defined benefit pension scheme despite the fact that it is in surplus.
Staff had been planning to hold a four-hour stoppage on 4 March, as well as a ban on overtime.
SIPTU Organiser, Tony Carroll said: “Talks are scheduled to take place early next week. SIPTU members have deferred industrial action to facilitate the talks.”
Both sides have agreed that no further comment will be made until after the LRC talks.
