Hearing, seeing principles of dance

-

danceDANCE Limerick is hosting a series of talks aimed at performers and audiences interested in creating, enjoying and appreciating the art form. Talks will be held in the Daghdha Space, former church of St John of the Cross, in John’s Square and are a modest fiver to access.

Next week’s talk, ‘Creating Work Outdoors’, by movement artist and researcher Sandra Reeve, is aimed at creating work in outside spaces, and audiences interested in understanding the concepts behind site specific performances.

Dr Reeve will open the discussion with some of her experiences and with examples of her own environmental performances on Tuesday February 25 at 7.30pm.

For those with an interest in contemporary dance and who would like to learn more about how to appreciate and engage with  performances, Brigitte Moody, course director of the Graduate Diploma and Masters in Dance at UL, is leading the second talk. Her ‘Seeing Dance’ is on Tuesday March 4 at 7.30pm.

Ms Moody’s talk will illuminate some of the seminal choreographers in dance history, as well looking at the work of Irish choreographer, John Scott, whose new work ‘Magnetic’ comes to the Daghdha Space in early April. See www.dancelimerick.ie
