SEVEN people were treated for storm related injuries at the University Hospital in Dooradoyle on Wednesday night. Two people presented as ‘walk ins’. A spokesman for the hospital said there were no critical injuries.
Between 2pm and 8pm on Wednesday, there were 14 patients brought to the ED by ambulance and a further six patients presented themselves as walk-ins. A spokesman for the HSE said they did not have a breakdown on how many of these patinets had suffered storm related injuries.
Earlier in the day, staff had prioritised discharges and transfers to free up beds for incoming patients.
“The staff at the hospital reported that the ED cope well overnight and there are only two patients on trolleys at present,” the spokesman told the Limerick Post on Thursday morning.
