A MAN in his 40s has died as a result of a two car collision at an area known as Reens Pike in Co Limerick this Monday morning.
The fatal accident occurred shortly before 7am when the two cars collided on the main Newcastle West to Rathkeale road.
The driver of one of the cars was fatally injured after he was taken to the University Hospital Limerick where he later died.
The scene was attended by gardai, emergency medical technicians and three units of the Limerick Fire and Rescue Service.
The road remains closed and a 10k m diversion is in place so motorists are asked to avoid the area or allow for delays.
A full investigation is underway by garda forensic crash investigators and Gardai at Newcastle West are appealing for any witnesses that may have any information in relation to this morning’s fatal; accident to contact them on 069 20650 or 1800 666 111 or at any garda station.
