THE HEAD of the HSE has said there will be no new emergency department to defuse the crisis at Limerick’s University Hospital for two years.
HSE Director General Tony O’Brien is was this week visiting primary care facilities in Limerick and meeting clients and staff to brief himself on how services are developing at ground level in the Mid West.
Answering questions at a press conference, Mr O’Brien said that while development is in train at the Dooradoyle site “for the major development (of a new ED), that is capital development and it will not be possible until 2016″.
