Revenue Seizes more Cigarettes in Limerick

cigarettesย In an intelligence-led operation in Limerick, officers from Revenueโ€™s Customs Service, assisted by An Garda Sรญochรกna, seized 100,000 cigarettes with a retail value of โ‚ฌ47,000 and a potential loss to the Exchequer of โ‚ฌ37,000 at lunchtime today (21/01/14).

The โ€œJing Lingโ€ and โ€œGolden Seagiiesโ€ cigarettes were discovered in unmarked brown boxes when a Ford Transit van was stopped on the Limerick/Tipperary border near Castleconnell.ย ย  The van was also seized.

The male driver, a non-Irish national in his 30s, was arrested and taken for questioning at Nenagh Garda Station.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.
