FOLLOWING their poor showing at the polls in 2009, the Fianna Fáil party will hold it’s Limerick City East selection convention to select its candidates for this year’s local elections.

Seeking selection are Cllr Kieran O’Hanlon of Rhebogue, Shane Clifford of Castleconnell a son of former Bruff based Cllr John Clifford, Joe Pond of Annacotty, Jim Hickey of Ballysimon and Jerry O’Dea of Ballyclough and O’Dea’s Pub Mulgrave Street.

Taking place this Thursday at the Kilmurray Lodge Hotel from 8pm, the FF party are looking to improve upon their dismal showing at the polls.

They are targeting three of eight seats available in this new electoral area.

In the 2009 local elections this was the worst performing area nationally for the Fianna Fáil Party securing only 8% of the vote.
