‘PHILOMENA’, a film based on the true story of a Newcastlewest woman’s search for the son she was forced to give up for adoption, has received four nominations for this year’s British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) awards. The movie was nominated in the best film category and there was a best actress nomination for Judi Dench, who plays the leading role of Philomena Lee. Directed by Stephen Frears, ‘Philomena’ also features in the nominations for best British film and best adapted screenplay. The award winners will be named at a ceremony in London on Feburary 16.
