A MAN arrested in the wake of a shooting in Limerick city last Thursday night has been brought before a special sitting of Limerick District Court charged with firearms offences.
29-year-old Ian Horgan was arrested shortly after Sean FInnan was shot in the stomach outside his house on Byrne Avenue by a gun man who discharged a single shot from a shot gun.
Two “hooded men” were seen running from the scene. It is alleged Horgan, originally from Cork but with and address at Lenihan Avenue was one of them.
Finnan, a known and convicted drug dealer, miraculously escaped with minor pellet wounds and had been rushed to University Hospital Limerick but was discharged a few hours later.
In the follow up operation, Horgan was arrested and questioned under section 30 of the Criminal Justice Act.
He was brought before the court on Saturday night after the Director of Public Prosecutions directed that he be charged on firearms offences.
Horgan was refused and bail, remanded in custody and ordered to appear again next Tuesday.
