LIMERICK architect Anna Donegan has much cause to raise a glass after winning the Peroni Design Awards which celebrates the coming together of emerging Irish design with Italian style.
The 29-year-old Adare native was among the winning duo with graphic designer Éanna O’Shea from Kildare to scoop the €2,000 cash prize at The Library Project in Temple Bar as part of Design Week. The pair impressed the judges with their imaginative interpretation of how to enhance the drinking experience of Peroni Nastro Azzurro, the premium Italian beer brand, with their entry of a bottle holder of embossed leather with metal base.
The Peroni Design Awards is a national competition to discover talented designers in Ireland and celebrate the partnership between Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Italian design house Alessi. The competition was also supported by the Institute of Designers in Ireland, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Irish design and designers.
Commenting on the win Limerick woman Anna Donegan said, “We are delighted to have won. It was totally unexpected, especially because the standard was so high.”
“We are huge fans of the Alessi brand so it is such an honour to have won the the Peroni Design Awards. We would like to say a big thanks to Alessi and Peroni for picking us as the winners,” said Anna.
The Peroni Design Awards sought to push the boundaries of excellence and design by challenging aspiring Irish designers to create an original item to enhance the enjoyment of Peroni Nastro Azzurro during a special occasion, in a bar, restaurant or at home.
