Fatal Limerick stabbing under investigation

THE fatal stabbing of a 65 year old male is under investigation in Limerick this Sunday morning after gardai were called to an incident at an apartment in the Dock Road area of the city.

Gardai in Henry Street are investigating the incident that occurred at an apartment in the Mount Kennett complex when they were called to the location at 2am in the early our of this Sunday morning.

The 65 year old Limerick man was found with stab wounds and was rushed to the University Hospital Limerick where he was later pronounced dead.

The scene at two apartments, on the same floor in the accommodation complex, are currently being preserved for a technical examination and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.

At this early stage, Chief Superintendent Dave Sheahan has said that Gardai are ruling out that the death has any links to gang or feud related matters in the city.
