The University of Limerick will hold a conference on this Thursday and Friday, November 7 and 8, commemorating 75 years since Kristallnacht and the events that followed, including Jewish men being arrested and sent to concentration camps for no other reason than their religious background.
Dr. Gisela Holfter, Conference Organiser and Director for Irish-German studies explains that ‘for some of these men and their families, Ireland had become a place of refuge. Ireland also benefited greatly from these new citizens who were entrepreneurs, academics, students and contributed much to their new home.
