JEWELLERY with an estimated value of €5,000 and up to €2,000 in foreign currency were taken in a burglary at house in Limerick earlier this week.

Four men from Dublin have been charged with handling stolen property in connection with the incident after they were arrested last Monday in Tipperary.

It is understood that the theft from the house in Dooradoyle occurred while the premises was unoccupied.

Garda Dave Givens told the court that four men were arrested outside Roscrea and were returned to Roxboro Garda Station where they were charged with handling the stolen cash and 18 items of jewellery.

Dave Mansfield (26) from Kiltalown Road, Tallaght; Gerard Connors (26) from Barna Park, Sandyford; Simon Corrigan (24) of Forrest Hill, Rathcoole and Stephen Doyle (31) from Cloonmore Crescent, Tallaght appeared before the court last week and were granted bail on strict condition that they stay out of Limerick except for court appearances, sign on twice daily at their local garda stations and obey a curfew.

The DPP will give her directions on December 11.
