After Dark – Trick or Treat for Temple Street

THIS year the Trick or Treat for Temple Street nationwide campaign has been urging people from all over Ireland to take part in their special Hallowe’en fundraising drive.
One person who took up the challenge was 21 year-old Limerick man Killian Fitzgerald who organised a special Hallowe’en fancy dress night at the Clarion Hotel last Saturday 26 in aid of Temple Street Children’s University Hospital.
Last year Temple Street Children’s University Hospital cared for 154,000 children and babies and the funds raised last week will go towards providing essential facilities and life-saving equipment for some of the country’s sickest children. Killian knows exactly how important this life saving facility is as he has spent a lot of time there over the last 20 years as he was diagnosed from birth with Phenylketonuria (PKU), a genetic disorder that prevents the normal processing of protein foods. PKU is more common in Ireland than in the rest of Europe, affecting one in 4,500 births in Ireland.
He has since moved onto an adult hospital for his treatment but before he left he wanted to give something back and raise money to help make life a bit easier for all the children who like him for years, need to spend time in Temple Street.
There was a fantastic turnout for the fundraiser on Saturday and as you can see some superb costumes were worn too! Guests who supported the event enjoyed plenty of highlights throughout including delicious finger food, performances from Limerick’s Got Talent winner Kelly Brosnan, singer/songwriter Rachy P, Dance Duo A&E, MagicDave and a disco with DJ Red Stiletto, and a raffle too.
Well done to Killian for organising such a special night to raise funds for Temple Street. He would like to thank all his family and friends and everyone who attended for making the event such a success!
