Ulster Bank League Rugby Previews 26/10/13

4-10-13 Old Crescent RFC v Bruff RFC AILTHE All Ireland league returns this weekend and with only one Limerick club in possession of a winning record, the eight local sides on show will be looking to kick start a run of form.

Division 1A
Lansdowne v Young Munster
Saturday October 26, 2.30pm
Aviva Stadium

YOUNG Munster are two from two and with last season’s champions currently without a win, this could be a good or bad time to visit the Aviva for John Staunton’s men. Lansdowne are due to come back to form at some point and unfortunately for the ‘Cookies’ it might be this weekend.
Prediction: Lansdowne

Division 1A
Garryowen v UCD
Saturday October 26, 2.30pm
Dooradoyle

THE Light Blues have not registered a win just yet in the AIL, but they have qualified for the Munster senior cup semi final. With Harry Mc Nulty beginning to hit form, this could be a home win to start things off for Tom Tierney’s side.
Prediction: Garryowen

Division 1B
Shannon v Dungannon
Saturday October 26, 2.30pm
Coonagh

IAN Sherwin will be looking to bring cup form into the AIL this weekend. The charity cup winners and Senior cup finalists have yet to register a win in the AIL, but this weekend could be the one against 1-1 Dungannon. Tadhg Bennett’s boot should seal this one, like other wins.
Prediction: Shannon

Division 1B
Malone v UL Bohemians
Saturday October 26, 2.30pm
Gibson Park

UL Bohemians make a long trip to Malone this weekend in the knowledge that both sides are evenly matched, with a win and a loss apiece. The UL Bohs side are very young this season, so these aways trips will be a steep learning curve for the students. Youth could and should win out on this occasion for the ‘Robins’.
Prediction: UL Bohemians

Division 2A
Bruff v Bective
Saturday October 26, 2.30pm
Killballyowen Park

BEN Martin’s Bruff, yet to secure a win, will look to this weekend’s game against winless Bective as an opportunity to move off the bottom of the table. A home win is a must here to kick start a season that promised so much from a new team and coaching set up.
Prediction: Bruff

Old Crescent v Rainey OB
Saturday October 26, 2.30pm
Rosbrien

THIS is a real chance of a win for Old Crescent. Rainey are 1-1 much like their hosts this weekend and with Gareth Quinn McDonagh settling in a 10 for the Rosbrien side, Ger Casey’s men should get over the line here and move up from 12th in the Division 2A table.
Prediction: Old Crescent

Division 2B
Thomond v Richmond
Saturday October 26, 2.30pm
Fitzgerald Stadium

A LOCAL derby everyone has been waiting for. A huge crowd is expected on Saturday for the closest of rivalries to lock horns for the first time this season. Thomond have started the season the better with one win and one loss, while Richmond are looking for their first ‘W’ of the campaign.
All form goes out the window here in what should be a tight affair. I am going to sit on the fence on this one.
Prediction: Draw
