Paramedic to be sentenced for video recording woman in toilet

by Andrew Carey

AN AMBULANCE paramedic is to be sentenced later this week after he pleaded guilty to secretly video recording a female colleague in the work toilets.

Robert Murphy, (51) of Lissanalta Grove, Dooradoyle, Limerick was before Judge Elizabeth MacGrath at Nenagh District Court earlier this year when he pleaded guilty to the offence at Tyone on May 5, 2012.

The paramedic placed an iPhone in a box on the windowsill of the unisex toilet and put it on to recording mode.

In the course of a Garda interview, the married father of three admitted that he had the device recording female members of staff in the toilet for his “own pleasure”.

Having heard an offer from the defence that compensation would be paid to the injured party, Judge Elizabeth MacGrath insisted that any suggestion of compensation would not influence her decision on an appropriate sentence.
