Jobs on offer at Limerick careers fair

A MAJOR careers fair will take place at Thomond Park on Thursday October 24, with hundreds of jobseekers set to attend. The Mid West Job Shop will run from 10am to 2pm, with organisers expecting an increase in attendance from the 900 people who checked in on last year’s event.

The fair will be launched by Training and Skills Minister Ciarán Cannon and will provide an opportunity for local companies to source employees, with more than 300 positions available on the day.

Jobseekers will have the chance to meet with potential future employers from many sectors, ranging from multinational businesses to small and medium enterprises. Companies such as Northern Trust, Cook Medical, ACI Worldwide and Aldi will feature at the Job Shop.

This year’s event will also feature a panel of career advisors, who will provide useful tips in strict confidence to all jobseekers on the day, and a series of seminars providing jobseekers with useful information aimed at finding them a job to suit their skills.

Ronan O’Boyle, Network Manager of ULearning Skillnet, stated that every company in attendance has positions available, adding that the event aims to provide unemployed people with opportunities to meet companies and to boost employment in the Mid West region.

CPL regional director Graham Burns said that the purpose of the event was to provide a forum for jobseekers to engage with employers and he revealed that all participating companies had positions available.
