A LIMERICK criminal’s Rolex watch seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau will be sold to the highest bidder, on eBay.
Last month, during a number of high profile raids in Limerick city and county, together with coordinated searches and arrests in the UK, a number of luxury items were seized as part of a massive Europe-wide crackdown on illegal trading.
It may have been a Christmas present for his girlfriend but the watch, still in its original box and certified is up for grabs on eBay in the first auction sale of its kind by the State authority.
It is understood that this type of selling is a test-bed and will be evaluated for further use.
The ‘proceedsofcrimeact1996’, is the seller and the goods are on sale following “an application under the Proceeds of Crime Act, 1997 & 2005 and is (on) sale by the Court appointed Receiver”, according to the online advertisement.
“Ladies Rolex Perpetual Datejust with original box and documentation. Watch was purchased at Christmas 2011 and is accompanied with the benefit of a 24 month jewellers watch guarantee (Keane’s of Cork, Limerick, and Killarney).”
Interested purchasers can bid on the watch until Friday October before the highest bidder, above €6,000 takes the item away but be sure to have €30 for postage at the ready.
