Limerick city councillors have deferred a decision on a controversial proposal to develop a multi-purpose youth centre in Ballynanty.
Council approval had been sought by Limerick Youth Service to build the centre on public land adjacent to Thomond Park stadium.
This evening’s council meeting was attended by a delegation of local residents opposed to the development on the grounds that it would lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour in the area.
Council members agreed to a proposal from Mayor Katheen Leddin that a vote on the application be postponed for a month to allow them consider submissions from those in favour and those opposed to the development.
