The Failte Ireland Irish Adventure Tourism Forum took place in Ennistymon Co.Clare this week where Irish operators were given the chance to connect with overseas tourist markets.
The forum hosted 125 leading Irish activity and adventure providers, including a number from Limerick, at the Falls Hotel.
More than 1600 meetings took place between the Irish operators and 45 key overseas and specialist travel agents from around the world, including India, Switzerland, Italy and the U.S.
This comes as the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) announces it will hold its Adventure Travel World Summit in Ireland next year from 6-9th October 2014.
The summit will be a huge boost for the tourism industry in Ireland and will provide a platform for the country’s hospitality sector.
It will also be an opportunity for growth as the economic impact for the event will be almost one million euro, according to Fiona Monaghan, Fáilte Ireland’s Head of Operations for the West.
‘There will be approximately 650 decision makers from the overseas adventure tourism industry in attendance, including tour operators, media, agents, and tourism agencies’, said Ms Monaghan.
The opportunities in marketing, education and connectivity will be invaluable for the Irish tourism industry.
