BRB comes to The Parlour

BRB‘BRB’, a “dark but funny” four-piece play by Kirby Productions, will come to The Parlour on Thomas Street on Sunday September 1 at 8pm for the last stop of its current sequence of performances.

The play, which was written and produced by England-based Australian writer Kirsten Stoddart and directed by Jessie Kirby from Dungarvan, revolves around four teenagers torn apart by a secret love affair and navigating issues of sexuality, identity, relationships and self-acceptance during their final year of secondary school.

Ms Stoddart explains: “It’s a dark but funny play about issues which are relevant to the Irish youth. We’re hoping to get it into schools and we have performed in Dublin, Cork, Kilkenny and Dungarvan.

“It’s an entirely self-funded production and we’re hoping to secure increased funding further down the line. The cast is made up of four fantastic young performers, all between the ages of 16 and 25.”

BRB is suitable for audiences aged 15 and over (parental discretion advised). It does contain some strong language and sexual themes, but also addresses key issues such as teen depression, homophobia, bullying, self-image and suicide.
