A CAPPAMORE teenager’s farming knowledge won him a ‘lucky cow’ at this year’s Tullamore Show. Eamon O’Donovan (15), who is a student at St Fintan’s CBS in Doon, was one of the lucky finalists in the Heifer and Hogget Competition winning a limousin heifer valued in the region of €1,100. Now in its fifth year, the competition run by the Irish Farmers Journal sees young people aged between 10-18 answer questions to test their farming knowledge. There were 28 finalists with 14 prizes up for grabs. The prizes, donated by breed societies from around the country consisted of two dairy heifers, five beef heifers and seven sets of ewe hoggets.
