LIMERICK songwriter Aaron Hackett (16) and his song ‘1969’ has until midnight on Thursday to gather your votes and downloads on RTÉ’s talent show ‘The Hit’ to progress in the competition. The song was chosen by Belfast artist Duke Special on the show last Friday night. Duke Special’s rendition of ‘1969’ is now available to vote for and download by texting “SONG 1” to 57082. The song is also available to download on iTunes. Eurovision’s Johnny Logan’s chose the song ‘Praying’ from the six hopeful songwriters on the same show and the two singles are now in a race to achieve the highest chart position this week to continue in the songwriting competition. Talking to Limerick Post today Clem Hackett, Aaron’s father, said that Aaron is delighted with Duke Special’s rendition, “It is a grower and Duke has a fabulous voice. We are hoping for a treble win for Limerick this weekend, the senior and minor hurling and 16 year old Limerick songwriter Aaron Hackett”.
