IF, like the age-old saying goes ‘The Earth laughs in flowers’ then Limerick is certainly rejoicing ahead of the Limerick in Bloom competition. A total of 44 communities from across the county are busily preparing for the judging stages of the sixth annual competition which takes place early next week. Limerick County Council, in conjunction with the JP McManus Charitable Foundation, have hosted the competition since 2008 as a motivational mechanism for the local based groups to enhance the visual impact of their area by means of flower, tree and shrub planting. Winners will be announced in the coming days.
