AS the summer continues to sizzle, Limerick County Council has issued an appeal to members of the public requesting them to refrain from swimming at locations that do not have a lifeguard on duty.

The appeal comes in the wake of four drowning tragedies involving Limerick people.

The Council is also urging the public to be extra vigilant if taking part in water-based activities over the coming days with temperatures set to reach 30c in parts this weekend. Limerick County Council employs seasonal lifeguards at Glin Pier and Kilteery Pier.
