MORE than 30,000 fans are crowding into Thomond Park for the biggest gig the city has ever seen. Bruce Springsteen flew into Shannon this morning, while his E-Street band arrived last night. The legendary rocker has a purpose-built compound to relax in before the big gig. Gates open at 5pm and there will be two pits in front of the massive stage, which is the width of the pitch, each holding 1,000 people, with up to 15,000 people on the pitch. Every hotel in the city is booked up. The concert is worth millions to the local economy. Fanatic Jamie Tongue (20) from Birmingham has been camped out at the iconic rugby ground since Thursday. He has been to 55 Bruce Springsteen concerts around the world and is attending every one in Ireland.
