Brian Butler Cup semi-final
It was a great display and an emphatic victory for our Junior A team last Monday evening (8th July) in their Brian Butler cup semi-final victory over Murroe Boher.
Even playing right into the strong sun in the first half, Doon had 2 goals and 17 points scored, with very few wides recorded. At the 30 minutes, Murroe Boher’s tally was just 2 points. Doon used the second half to give a run to their full quota of substitutes and each made their mark. We added 2-8 to our overall score and our opponents gained 4 points. Final score Doon 4-25 Murroe Boher 0-6. We now meet Ahane in the final of the Brian Butler Cup as they overcame Fedamore in the other semi.

The intermediates faced a strong Pallasgreen team in the East Championship last Tuesday evening in Cappamore. Played in extremely difficult conditions the game finished 1-9 a piece. Oola’s goal came from the penalty spot courtesy of Conor Ryan Minor. In the end a draw was a fair result. Team lined out as follows:
Kevin Nolan, Don Anderson, Padraig Ryan, Shane Whelan, Raymond Ryan, Eoin Fitzgibbon, James Power, Darragh Stapleton, Conor Ryan Minor, Gavin Hueston, Joey Shanahan, , Denis Moloney, David O Donvan, Brian Fenton, Kevin O Donovan, Pat Ryan Minor, John O Grady

1) Congratulations
Congratulations to Colin Ryan on his heroic performance today for the Limerick Minors in their draw with Waterford in the Munster Hurling final. With Limerick winning the senior final, hopefully our Minors can emulate them in the replay, and make it a double this year. Well done to the Limerick Senior Hurlers on their good win in the Munster final against Cork
Well done to Colm McMahon who represented Limerick today also, in the Primary Schools exhibition match which took place at half time between Cork and Limerick.
Finally, well done to Alan Cosgrave who was selected to play for Limerick U-16 footballers in both their matches over the weekend. Unfortunately the team wasn’t successful in their pursuit of Munster glory, but the experience will stand well to Alan, and we look forward to seeing him represent Limerick again in the future.

4) Club Fixtures.
Our Senior Footballers took to the field on Tuesday night in a combined East Championship/ All County League game against our neighbours Oola. In the first half Pallasgreen made strong use of limited ball to race into a seven points to two lead, with Seamus Mulcahy and Kevin Barry the strongest performers. However in the second half, Oola were much more accurate with the boot, and despite a bravely taken goal by Mike Moloney, who beat an onrushing goalkeeper to fist his score, they were able to peg Pallasgreen back, and with almost the last kick of the game score the point which drew the game. Final score was 1-9 to both teams. Scorers were:
Kevin Barry 0-4 (all frees), Mike Moloney 1-0, Seamus Mulcahy 0-2, Tony McMahon, Chris McMahon and Lorcan O’Dwyer all a point.
Thursday and Saturday saw Pallasgreen Junior Hurlers take part in the Knockane Junior hurling tournament. First up was the game against Ballybricken/Bohermore. The first half saw Ballybricken play much the better hurling, but the scores were close at half time 1-3 to 0-3 in favour of Ballybricken. A positional swap moving John Kirby to centre forward for the second half saw Pallasgreen play much better hurling in the second half, and taking the lead for long periods. However Ballybricken were not to be thwarted and a late goal saw them take the lead they wouldn’t relinquish winning 3-6 to 1-11.
This meant that Pallasgreen played the hosts, Knockane, in the B final on Saturday evening. It was a well fought and tight match, however Pallasgreen were always in control, coming in at half time leading by 1-4 to five points, with a well taken goal by Darren Roche again being the highlight. In the second half Pallasgreen extended their lead early on and never looked back, winning the game in the end by 1-11 to eight points.
Our thanks go to Knockane GAA club for inviting us to the tournament and all the hard work that went into preparing the ground and clubhouse for the weekend.
