TO MARK Friday June 21, the longest day of the year, Limerick based band Iron Mountain will headline the Summer Solstice Ritual Party at Dolan’s Warehouse.
The band, whose debut album is due for release sometime soon, will feature as the main act alongside a notable guest list including Peter Delaney, mynameisjOhn, Sea Dog, Lou McMahon and Deep Blue, plus a special cameo appearance from Jay Red.
Ray Murphy, who plays drums with Iron Mountain, promises a night of enthralling entertainment at Dolan’s on the Dock Road.
He said: “We were thinking of putting a nice event together and we all started asking people to come on board. It was very easy to get responses from people and we got some great people on board.
“There will be surprise guests on the night so it will be quite a feast of entertainment, everything from electronica to instrumental, indie pop to folk. It will be a nice midsummer celebration.”
Iron Mountain assumed its current guise three years ago and the members have been flat out since then between performing gigs and writing and recording music.
The band actually doesn’t come together very often as the members are involved in other projects, so Ray is keen to make the most of the opportunity that will come their way at Summer Solstice.
“We’re gigging when we’re fortunate enough to all be in the same place at the same time and we are working on finishing our album at the moment.
“People are involved in different bands, projects, tours, as well as jobs and families, so it makes it challenging for people to be in the same place at the same time. It’s few times a year that we actually get together to play and this is one of them.”
Dolan’s will come alive on Friday 21, with the festivities beginning at 8pm, as a number of talented acts converge on the venue to mark the longest day of the year.
By purchasing a ticket for the event, you will also receive a free download code for Iron Mountain’s debut album. Ray said that when he approached Dolan’s with the idea for the gig, he was met with instant approval.
“It’s never easy to get a date in a prestigious venue like Dolan’s but Dolan’s is very accessible and always open to good music. If you can just bring yourself to them, they’re always 100 per cent up for bringing music out there and getting music out to the public. They’re totally up for anything like this.”
