A GROUP of primary school children had a lucky escape after their bus caught fire in Co Limerick on Monday.

The pupils from Co Kerry were returning home from their school tour at around 6.30pm when fire broke out on the privately owned coach at Barna outside Newcatle West.

Nobody was injured and another bus arrived a short time later to take the children home. The road was closed and diversions were put in place via the old Barna Road to facilitate the removal of the bus from the area.
