VISITORS to Limerick are receiving an extra warm welcome as Volunteer ‘Gathering’ Ambassadors take to the streets of the city this summer.

The Gathering Volunteer Ambassador Programme is running throughout the summer in five locations around the country with Gathering Volunteer Ambassadors greeting visitors and providing information on upcoming Gathering events in their local area.

Limerick boasts one of Ireland’s most comprehensive Gathering programmes with 147 festivals and events taking place throughout the City and County.

Speaking at the launch of the Gathering Volunteer Ambassador Programme, Mary Killeen Fitzgerald, Gathering Limerick Coordinator said that people who are passionate about their area’s attractions, traditions or culture can still register to be part of the programme and help welcome visitors to Limerick.”

Volunteers are now being recruited for the programme which runs until October. Volunteers must be 18 or over, have fluent English and should be available for one two-hour shift a week from Wednesday through Sunday. Those interested should visit www.volunteer.ie/events/thegathering.
