THE Feohanagh and Castlemahon communities of West Limerick turned out this week for  the turning of the sod for new community hall. A grant of €500,000 from West Limerick Resources was announced in January for the 6850 square foot facility which will be located in Castlemahon village site adjacent to the primary school.

The hall will incorporate an area for 312 seats, a performance stage, fully equipped catering kitchen, dining area, three meeting rooms and toilet facilities. It will be used by a wide range of groups within the community.

Construction is due to commence on the facility in the coming week with a provisional completion date set for December. In the interim the community is continuing its fundraising effort to meet the outstanding finance requirement for the €656,487 project.
