Ain’t No Mountain High Enough for Northside Youth

MORE than 20 ย teenagers ย from Limerick’s Northside regeneration areasย conquered Irelandโ€™s most famous peak, Croagh Patrick earlier this month.

Young people from from Moyross andย Ballynanty scaled the County Mayo mountain with Limerick Youth Serviceโ€™s Northside Youth Cafe and Ballynanty Garda Youth Diversion Project.

Youth Worker Kate Oโ€™Driscoll said:ย “The climb was a great opportunity for young people who live in the city to experience rural life and get some exercise in the processโ€™

The Northside Youth Cafe, one of three LYS Youth Cafes, is based at the Watch House Cross, Limerick, while the Ballynanty Garda Youth Diversion Project is one of three such projects run by LYS.

Now in its 40th year, LYS remains committed to encouraging and encouraging young people to be active participants in shaping their futures.
