Limerick glory at Munster Schools Cross Country Championship

FOUR young Limerick athletes took home medals at the Munster Schools Cross Country Championships last week.

The quartet from four different schools across the county claimed one gold, two silver and a bronze at the Carriganore track at Waterford IT.

Sadhb De Barra from Lauren Hill Colaiste got the medal haul underway as she took second place in the Minor girls race, in the process securing her place at the All-Ireland championships next month.

The next medal came from Ed Valatha in the Intermediate Boys race. The Scoil Pol, Kilfinane student finished in third place to win a bronze medal and also a place at the All-Ireland.

Kyle Larkin from Ard Scoil Ris then took second place and a silver medal in the Senior Boys race.  The final medal winner was Jessica Coyne from Crescent College Comprehensive who became Munster Schools Senior Champion, taking the gold and qualifying for the All-Ireland Schools Cross Country Finals.

The All-Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships will be held at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown on Sunday March 9.
