John ‘The Bull’ Hayes reminds rugby fans travelling to Wales this weekend for the ‘big game’, to use their connections to create jobs for Ireland, during a short video shot by ConnectIreland. Former Ireland, Munster and Lions Prop, John Hayes has overwhelmingly embraced the concept of ConnectIreland, which offers people the opportunity to enhance Ireland’s economy by creating jobs through the use of their connections.
He has called on rugby supporters who may be travelling to Cardiff this weekend for the Ireland v Wales Six Nations Cup to think about who they know abroad and if they know of a company considering an international expansion, log onto www.connectireland.com <http://www.connectireland.com/> and register as a connector.
In the video, the rugby great and recent author of his book The Bull: My Story, John Hayes appealed to rugby supporters to get behind the initiative and help in the growth of Ireland’s economy through the creation of jobs.
“It’s time for the Irish to look towards using their skills and connections for the benefit of Ireland. Everyone has connections, right?” he says.
During the video he also tells about his early career working on a farm in New Zealand where he says the Irish taught the New Zealanders everything they knew about dairy farming.
“The Irish offered their skills abroad to countries like New Zealand in the nineties. As young farmers we imparted our knowledge in dairy farming to local farmers New Zealand, which has since established a thriving dairy industry. Now it’s time to look towards home and help our own country,” he points out.
John urged people to be cognisant of the contacts that they have in sporting circles and he called on them to investigate those connections for the potential of job creation in Ireland.
He called on the rugby supporters of Ireland to register as Connectors on the connectIreland website and refer any company that they know of that may be considering an international expansion.
ConnectIreland is an incentivised jobs referral programme, which was launched by the Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD under the management of IDA Ireland in March 2012. It is part of the Succeed in Ireland Initiative, which was established under the Government’s 2012 Action Plan for Jobs. It is expected that the programme will lead to the creation of some 5,000 jobs within five years.
