The UL side has lost only one game in their last 46 outings and are now favourites to go on once more and add a national league title to this cup win.
Coach James Weldon was certainly keen to stress the commitment of all involved with this UL side,
“I’m running out of things to say to the girls when they win trophies. I just want to pay tribute to our backroom staff. We are not really about old school coaching here at UL. It´s a team effort and all the little things that people do add up to success.”
Meanwhile in the men’s competition, it was heartbreak for the UL Eagles. Bord Gais Neptune ended a 21 year wait for a SuperLeague Cup with an epic performance that proved too much for UL Eagles.
While Eagles battled manfully right to the end, it was never to be their night and as their long-suffering supporters sang in the stands, Neptune were able to enjoy the last minutes of their eventual 85 to 65 win.
